There he sat in his favourite chair, looking at the blank walls and the empty space. She had gone, never to return. Twenty-seven years had passed and now it was all over. Everything he had worked for, everything he had adored.
As he sat with his faithful companion, as the ice touched the sides of the glass and the smoke filled the air, as it swirled higher and higher blocking the view of emptiness. As the thoughts and emotions of the passed just floated away – never to return.
Memories of childhood, of their wedding day, of special friends he had met in 1987. ……. to be continued
